INTRODUCTION

Being a data analyst intern on side hustle bootcamp week two has been interesting, insightful and challenging for our team so far and amazingly the journey still continues ๐Ÿ˜‚. working collectively and bringing ideas and knowledge together as team members we were able to generate insights and build our second interactive dashboard on this project. Working as a team has been such an amazing experience, involving the use of skills and knowledge from numerous individuals. Each person brings a unique talent and expertise, sharing in the effort of working together and coordinating tasks and responsibilities to see the project through from concept to production.

THE PROJECT

The project was to scrap data of any two disease or infection from the list given to us, clean, transform and visualize the data to help uncover and make sense of the information. After careful deliberation, we decided to go with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), it is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and also cholera and the adverse effect of these diseases.

PROCESS

The process of gathering these data sets was intense, we were supposed to deliver this project in a week (7days) and the first four days was challenging, since we were still finding our grounds as interns with no proper leads. The unexpected happened on day 5 when we stumbled on a goldmine which was AIDSINFO for the aids data set and kaggle where we found our second dataset for cholera.

DATA PREPARATION

On data preparation we took the raw dataset and loaded it into power query in power bi this was to ensure the integrity of the data, we removed redundant data, errors were corrected, and we also identify missing data and replaced them, changing data types to the more appropriate format e.g., date represented as date not text. Visualization The first Dashboard is an analysis made with the data set of Aids that covers a period of 20years from (1990-2020), while the second dashboard is an analysis on cholera disease from the year (1949-2016) on the seven continents.

This is where we bring our data to life. Our well-designed reports tells a compelling story about The Top affected Region which happens to be South Africa it equally gives detailed demonstration on the Mortality rate by year, as you can see from the visuals Mortality keeps increasing by year for that of the Aids worldwide data and for the cholera disease we have the top 5 mortality records by country with India as the highest country, the top 5 reported cases by country and India having the highest record as well, Mortality by region with South-Asia having the highest record, total death reported and total reported cases. This visual will enable decision makers to quickly gain needed insights to take actions that will minimize the continuous spread of AIDS and Cholera especially on the regions with highest cases reported.

CONCLUSION

The team collaboration and levels of brainstorming made us gain significant information and understanding that allow us to apply this knowledge to real life situations like AIDS this report will help individuals track and improve their lifestyle performance, and for decision makers to use our data-driven report to target specific location to minimize risks and decrease mortality rate.
